We awoke this morning to a beautiful sunny sky, well actually our day really started at 3 am in darkness and rain!
Last night, after arriving at our condo which is a beautiful new facility located right on the Thames River, we were exhausted from little or no sleep for the past two evenings. When 8 pm came around we were just too tired to stay awake any
longer and we went to bed, sleeping soundly until 3 am when both Shirley and I
were laying there wide awake. Since sleep was not an option and it was too early to get up we both sat there and answered emails and responded to Words with Friends....Fortunately by the time we woke up the second time the rain had stopped and the sun was shinning.
Our condo is a beautiful new two bedroom facility located right on the banks of the River Thames. Our unit is on the third floor center building. There is a river taxi that stops directly in front of our facility that we will try tomorrow.
Our initial itinerary for today was to visit the eye and then spend the day on the "hop-on and hop-off" bus tour. Unfortunately by the time we arrived at the eye the line was to long so we elected to post pone the ride until tomorrow morning.
It was an interesting ride today on both the bus and the tube. I was totally amazed at the traffic in downtown London. I think there are more buses than cars in town. The number of buses on the streets themselves cause sever gridlock and then add a few cars and nobody moves. Fortunately the underground tube system provides a fast and efficient way of traveling through town.
and I thought Seattle had the only duck to tour a city in, not so...
Dinner tonight was at a small Italian restaurant by the London Bridge.
Tomorrow's itinerary is to visit the eye, tour the Tower of London where the crown jewels are located (Shirley has hinted that she could use some more jewelry, saying something about being the queen bee around here...) and ending up with a stop at Harrods.
I must mention how wonderful it has been having Kathy guiding us through the maze of underground tubes and buses. I think it would be very interesting to see a three dimensional model of the maze of train rails at the many levels underground.
Good Night from sunny London,
