Wednesday & Thursday, October 2,3, 2012

Wednesday & Thursday, October 2, 3, 2012:

Wednesday was another day of rest....I think we are finally rested up enough! Time to hit the road tomorrow.

Thursday, October 3, 2012:
We have seen a beautiful sunset just about every night we have been here. Last nights was probably one of the best!

As the sunsets it looked like boiling lava over the hills.

We hired a limo today and spent the day touring south of Praiano and eventually toured the ruins at Paestum.  On the way back we stopped in several towns to do some shopping and sightseeing.

One of the many old hill side warning castles that are along the coast.

At first we thought they were rock climbing for fun however on the return trip we realized that they were actually workmen attaching steel cables to the rock face to prevent loose rocks from falling down on the roadway below.

Some of the temples at Paestum

Lunch at a lovely restaurant in Paestum.
Shirley was not to impressed when I suggested we take the toilet seat off our toilet at home and hang it on the towel bar like this one to eliminate the old issue of raising the toilet seat at home.

Our travel guide Lorenzo with the ladies.

Something you will not see too often, a deserted shopping street! We had stopped so the girls could do some shopping but unfortunately it was "siesta time" and the stores were closed.

Ceramics anyone?

What amused me about this picture was that the man with the long stick is actually doing weed control on the wall. By hitting the weeds below he dislodges them preventing them from growing up the side of the wall.

The happy tourists with their daily gelato.

We stopped at Lorenzo's cousin store where we purchased some ceramics. I am not sure how all these treasures we have accumulated on the trip are ever going to fit in our suitcases.

The church in Minori where Lorenzo was married the previous weekend ago. They wee getting ready for another wedding when we viewed the church.

The groom was from New York and the bride was a local girl.  Their wedding announcement showed the church and the Statue of Liberty on the front. I thought the Lady Liberty symbolized his loss of freedom but Shirl thinks  I am "potso", Italian for crazy.

The factory where they make the ceramics.

Tomorrow we will be packing and getting ready for moving on to Spoleto on Saturday.

Good Night,
