Saturday, September 15, 2012:

This morning I am the official “Bag Man”!  We left the condo at 10:00 am this morning as Kathy and Shirley wanted to go to a big open air market known as Covent Garden Market, just a short tube ride away.  I was skeptical but boy what a pleasant surprise as this market is enormous.  I thought Pike Place Market was nice but this place is approximately 3-4 square blocks of nothing but booths and specialty stores or restaurants.  I am sure you could find just about anything here as the market schedules various areas of interest throughout the week with Saturday being primarily for Arts and Crafts.  Since we would have to lug our many suitcases with us during our visit I elected to find a nice spot to have a cup of coffee, watch the people action, and keep an eye on our bags, thus being named the "Bag Man".

The ladies returned loaded with wonderful treasures, things they could not live without!!

The view of the street when we arrived and when we left an hour  later

Shirley said "it worked for Clark Kent", I told her she already was my "wonder woman"

We arrived at Gatwick Airport using the train system in time to make our afternoon flight on British Air to Verona, Italy.

Some views of our apartment

Verona, Italy:
It was dusk as we arrived but wow, I did not think things could get any better after staying in the nice condo in London, however things certainly did get much better when we entered the condo in Verona.  Our host Anne is a charming lady eager to make our stay in her beautiful apartment a visit we will not forget. She immediately scheduled a coffee date with us for the next day so she could tell us where to visit, etc.  She had fresh cold drinks waiting for us as well as some delightful pastries.

They say Verona is a city for lovers and I can see why.  After getting settled in at the condo Shirl and I went out for a late dinner and a walk around town taking in the evening atmosphere.  We both fell in love with the quaint atmosphere displayed during our evening walk.  The city, which we have not    seen in the daylight, consists of narrow streets with numerous small restaurants and beautiful church bell towers illuminated in the night sky.  The feeling of peace and tranquility was felt in seeing the numerous couples strolling in the beautiful evening. It was a very peaceful feeling.

Shirl wants to add her comments, so here she is!

Italy is truly for the romantic at heart!  In Verona as the sun sets, the strollers appear in larger numbers.  there is a feeling of tranquility and safety.  Our residence, La Dolce Vita is certainly a testimony to the good life.  I feel  like a princess in her summer getaway palace.  Anne is certainly a lady of detail for comfort!
