We left the apartment early this morning and took the train west from Verona to the town of Peschiera, located on beautiful Lake Garda. Traveling by train over here is so easy and "fast".  I do wonder how many people are killed by failing to get out of the way in time as they travel through towns at over 75-85 miles per hour and there are no fences to keep people off the tracks.  I hate to think what would happen if it jumped the track or hit another train.  There is certainly no comparison with our slow and limited train system.

Upon arrival at Peschiera we walked to the boat harbor and eventually found the tour/ferry boat that travels up the lake.  The boat makes brief 1-3 minute stops at approximately 25 small villages along the lake shore. Kathy had found the "fast" boat that only stopped at 8 villages on its way north to the town of Malcesine, where there is an overhead tram system taking you up to the top of Monte Baldo.

The "fast" boat was actually a jet boat providing a beautiful picture

There were so many beautiful old and new buildings along the lake.

The beauty of the lake reminds me a little of Ross Lake in the North Cascades, except there is far more population on Lake Garda. The view along the many miles of shore line consists of many old castles and churches as well as small business designed to accommodate tourism.

The picture does not give justice to the view of the little village down below. One can even see and hear Julie Andrews coming across the hill. We would love to come back and spend a week traveling and staying in each little town along the lake.

There were many hang gliders taking advantage of the wind and height. We probably saw 15-20 of them. I never knew there were that many people around here that would want to jump off a beautiful solid hill into clear space. I am sure I will hear about this comment...

A herd of sheep came down the adjacent hill with the sheep dog directing them. Beautiful to watch.

Tomorrow will be a sad day as my daughter Kathy will be leaving us.  She has been such a joy to travel with and her traveling experience has helped us immensely.

I also would like to know if the file sizes of these reports with all the pictures are causing too long of a time to open.  There are so many wonderful sights to share I but do need to know if  maybe I need to break it into two smaller files.

Good Night and 73's
