Wednesday, September 19, 2012:

Today was a lazy day of just sleeping in (well one of them did anyway!) and doing a nice walk in town.  Shirl and I had read about a garden close by so we started out on one of our adventures and three hours later eventually found the garden Giardino Giusti, a lovely English garden with old, old, old plants and trees.

The entrance to the Gardino Giusti Garden

The fruit from the lemon tree is so, so sweet....
This tree is over 250 years old.  You will notice the main trunk is in the center and many, many years ago the branches you see were actually saplings close to the ground.
Shirl is admiring this trumpet plan that she thinks her friend  Marlynn has a similar one, maybe not as old as this one however.

An interesting thing happened while we were at the garden. As I was standing close to where the guest registry was located I over heard two ladies talking and one said to the other, "oh, look, the last party was from Sequim", pronouncing the town correctly.  Having continually heard it pronounced as Se-quim so many times by foreigners I said "you two must be from the states".  They then informed me they were from Victoria.  We proceeded to have a nice conversation exchanging our trip experiences.  Sometimes it truly is a small world.

We also noticed that Walter White and his wife from Albuquerque, New Mexico had visited just prior to us.  The only reason I mentioned this is that Shirley was from there and has a lot of family reading this blog and they may know them.

Tomorrow morning we leave early for Lake Garda.  Until then, Good Night.
